The 5-Minute Mirror Practice

Find a quiet moment and a mirror — the bathroom, the car, anywhere you can be alone with yourself for five minutes. Read through the steps below, then simply begin.

  1. Settle in

Stand or sit in front of the mirror. Take three slow breaths, letting your shoulders drop a little more with each one.

  2. Meet your own eyes

Look directly into your eyes in the reflection. It can feel strange at first — that's normal. Just stay here for a few breaths.

  3. Notice, without fixing

Notice what's present — tiredness, tension, softness, whatever is true right now — without trying to change it. You're just here to witness yourself.

  4. Speak to yourself with kindness

Out loud or silently, offer yourself a few kind, true words — the way you'd speak to someone you love. A few starting points are below if you'd like them.

  5. Close gently

Take one more slow breath. Notice anything that feels different, even slightly. Carry that with you into the next part of your day.

If you'd like a few words to start with

"I am doing the best I can with what I know today."
"I deserve the same kindness I give to others."
"I choose to see myself with compassion."

This is just a first taste of the kind of work we go deeper into together. If it resonated, we'd love to have you join us in person.
